In addition to helping you produce and source parts, JB Laser can ensure that they hold up better over time. We have in-house resources for powder coating application, making objects more durable and enhancing their appearance.
Powder coating has a number of significant advantages over liquid coating. These include:
Powder coatings are much thicker than standard liquid coatings are. They don’t leave the runs, drips and sags that liquid coatings do either. Instead, you get uniform, attractive surfaces for your products and components. Perhaps best of all, powder coat has unmatched UV protection in comparison to liquid coatings.
Powder coatings offer exceptional resistance to deterioration from:
Powder coatings don’t have any solvents or release many pollutants into the atmosphere. Consequently, they have far less of an impact on the environment than other coating options do.
Powder coating doesn’t just protect your products. It allows you to meet EPA regulations simply and more cost-effectively.
The process of powder coating breaks down like this:
We remove any dirt, oil, grease and other particles from your products' surfaces. In some cases, we might blast these surfaces with grit, crystals or other abrasives. This helps ensure that the powder will hold once we apply it.
Next, we apply the powder coating with an electrostatic gun, which gives the powder an electric charge that keeps it in place.
After we’ve applied the powder, we heat it up. This causes it to melt and undergo a chemical reaction that cre-ates a polymer with a cross-linked appearance.
